Exeter Golf Pro-am a huge success

Friday 7^th June saw the Exeter Golf and Country Club Pro-am in aid of the Men’s Captain’s Charity take place in almost perfect conditions. The Captain’s charity to benefit this year is Exeter Leukaemia Fund who are helping Yarty Ward with a special project at the R.D & E. Hospital.

The Exeter Pro-am, both Men’s and Ladies, are events sponsored by Bradleys Estate Agents as part of their ongoing Sponsors in the Community programme.

The day started at about 6:30am with many members on hand to help with the set up. The weather was well set with bright skies and the sunshine bringing settled playing conditions.

As one of the sponsors, Bradleys entered a team playing alongside the Yelverton Golf Club professional, Joe Yorke. Following a slow start the team grew into the event although their putting let them down from posting a competitive score. Marketing Director, Kai Logan did manage to take home the prize for nearest the pin on the 16^th hole.

The winning team was led by Ben Amor from Ogbourne Downs Golf Club with amateur partners Dave McPherson, Lewis Alderson and John Cowl who scored 93pts. Ben also won the professional individual event making a superb eagle 3 down the 18th to shoot a 5 under par 64. Exeter Pro Ryan Pope tied 2nd with 66 alongside Chris Gill, Ash Mansell and James Cooper who played with our junior team and led them home to a prize.

The event was superb, and the day went so well with everyone pulling together to give all a wonderful Pro-am raising much needed funds for ELF. Over 150 members then enjoyed a great evening barbecue and dancing to musician Richard James who was amazing!

ELF Development Manager Gary Moore thanked everyone for the support for such a worthy cause, which raised in the region of £8000 on the day.
